Marketing and communications professionals are often considered “creative types” who can deliver creative concepts at the drop of a hat. But does creativity really work like that? How can you nurture creative thinking in yourself and others? And, perhaps more importantly, how can you take a bunch of crazy ideas and turn them in transformative change?

Enter this month’s speaker. Brian LaDuca, a 2017 Dayton, Ohio Forty Under 40 award winner, is the Executive Director of the Institute of Applied Creativity for Transformation (IACT) at the University of Dayton, home to the nation’s first undergraduate certificate in Applied Creativity for Transformation. The certificate introduces students to the creative competencies that today’s job market demands — critical perspectivecomplex problem solving and collaboration with others — while applying those same skills to the students’ diverse disciplines of study.

Brian holds a BFA with Honors in Theatre Studies from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign (2000) and a MFA in Directing for the Stage and Screen from the Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln (2008). In addition to the University of Dayton he has collaborated and worked with University of Notre Dame, Northwestern University, and the University of Chicago. He and his wife, Susie, have three children - twin 7 year old boys, Michelangelo and Joaquin, and a 5 year old daughter, Giada.
