About the Cedarville newsroom: In September 2017, Cedarville University opened its first newsroom on campus for the purpose of expanding its media reach. In nine months, the university has conducted 150 TV interviews (90 live interviews), produced more than 50 campus promotional videos, and started a recorded radio program for WFJC Dayton. Given that the goal for the amount of media interviews in the first year was 50, it's an understatement to say the newsroom has been a success. Interviews have been done with media outlets from Columbus, Dayton, CTV Canada, Fox News, and Fox Business News. During the academic year, three students manage the newsroom and produce all of the interviews. Come to this year's Media Day and tour the Cedarville University Newsroom and see how your organization can benefit from today's technology.

About “train the trainer” media training: Public relations professionals are regularly called upon to prepare the leaders and subject matter experts in their organization for interviews and public presentations. What are the fundamentals that every spokesperson should know; and what are the most effective techniques to answer the unexpected question, control a contentious interview or get the audience engaged in your message. In this presentation, we will discuss how we can provide the best coaching and counseling to our spokespeople, to increase their confidence, consistency, clarity and overall effectiveness.
