Getting involved is an excellent way to give back to your profession while interacting and networking with fellow professionals. It can also open doors for new experiences that may not be offered as part of your current job responsibilities.
In addition to attending monthly meetings, there are many ways to increase your involvement in PRSA:
Awards Judging
Each spring our chapter exchanges award entries with another chapter of similar size and is asked to review and judge these entries. Judging usually takes place during one or more weekend or evening sessions, scheduled at the convenience of our judging volunteers.
Guest Speaking
Our chapter is regularly contacted by student groups to provide speakers or panelists on topics relating to public relations and communications. This is a one-time commitment for a specific event.
Community Events
Dayton Area PRSA is always on the lookout for opportunities to participate in community events. From volunteering media relations skills for Inventing Flight: Dayton 2003 to mentoring PR students at the local universities, we will continue to look for ways for your to share your communications skills.
Committee Positions
Headed by board members, committees are formed to support particular events or chapter functions. Current committees include: Media Day, Professional Development, Membership, New Professionals, Sponsorship and Programming. Time commitments vary by committee.
Board of Directors
As the leadership body of the chapter, board members focus on specific aspects of leading the chapter. Positions include President, President-Elect, Immediate Past President, Secretary, Treasurer, two Programming chairs, Communications, Accreditation, Ethics and PRSSA Advisors.
If you are interested in being considered for a future board position or would like to join a committee, please contact Natasha Baker at 937/512-2221 or via email.
