Dayton Area PRSA's PRism Awards

Every year the Dayton Chapter of PRSA honors PR accomplishements through the PRism awards.

You can’t hide the new hope you brought to your organization’s public relations strategy. Therefore, we are proud to celebrate your creative force awakening in 2016!

The Dayton Area Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) will again honor outstanding local PR pros at the annual PRism Awards Ceremony to be held on Thursday, May the Fourth. The Chapter will award PRisms, Awards of Merit, Best in Show and four individual recognitions at a Star Wars-themed, after work event at the Boonshoft Museum of Discovery.

Did your client’s crisis plan come in handy when the Empire struck back at 4 p.m. on a Friday? Did you and your teammate draft an epic space opera – or at least the kind of press release that gave your not-for-profit a well-deserved media placement? We want to raise a glass to your work! A panel of PR professionals from the Northeast Wisconsin Chapter will again judge the entries using the 2016 APR Study Guide.

Who can submit a PRism?

The PRism Awards are open to all PRSA members and non-members who live and work in Dayton, the Miami Valley and other surrounding galactic systems.

Recognizing PR pros

The PRisms are more than celebrating out of this world achievements – at the PRism Awards we recognize who we trust when assignments jump to hyper speed. Truly, the best PR pros are not working in a galaxy far, far, away, they are right here in Dayton! But, we need your help to return those Jedi to the spotlight! In 2017 we are proud to honor:

  • Up and Comer of the Year: Given to a professional with 5 or less years of professional experience who is making a positive impact on the field of PR.
  • “Smitty Award” Communications Professional of the Year: This mid-to-late career award will honor an area communicator at the top of their game. Does not need to be a PRSA member, but the Force looks kindly on those who are.
  • Media Friend of the Year: Nominate an individual working in the media who has been the most instrumental in building a trusting professional relationship that has been beneficial to your organization or client’s and the public.
  • NEW! Newsmaker of the Year: This new award will honor a Dayton area person who is not a professional communicator but whose communications acumen and media savvy has advanced our community in a positive way.
