Get Involved

Getting involved is an excellent way to give back to your profession while interacting and networking with fellow professionals. It can also open doors for new experiences that may not be offered as part of your current job responsibilities.

In addition to attending monthly meetings, there are many ways to increase your involvement in PRSA:

Awards Judging
Each spring our chapter exchanges award entries with another chapter of similar size and is asked to review and judge these entries. Judging usually takes place during one or more weekend or evening sessions, scheduled at the convenience of our judging volunteers.

Guest Speaking
Our chapter is regularly contacted by student groups to provide speakers or panelists on topics relating to public relations and communications. This is a one-time commitment for a specific event.

Community Events
Dayton Area PRSA is always on the lookout for opportunities to participate in community events. Please contact the current chapter president if you have an idea on how our members' expertise and skills could benefit a local event or organization.

Committee Positions
Often, our board will call on members to help with various committees throughout the year. Those requests will typically appear on the chapter website as well as in the monthly chapter newsletter. Be on the lookout for those opportunities or let a board member know that you are interested in volunteering.

Board of Directors
As the leadership body of the chapter, board members focus on specific aspects of leading the chapter. Positions include President, President-Elect, Immediate Past President, Secretary, Treasurer, two Programming chairs, Communications, Accreditation, Ethics and PRSSA Advisor.

If you are interested in being considered for a future board position or would like to join a committee, please contact the current board president.
